Isn't "Joyful, Loving Being" Kind Of Awkward?

(go back)

Now, lookie here--your beloved coach (that's me) spent a lot of time trying to come up with a single word to describe a joyful, loving being, just like there is a convenient single word to describe an asshole. (That word, of course, is "asshole".)

The closest single word I could come up with to describe a joyful, loving being is "angel."

If we used that word, we'd say "an angel is a person who manifests a way of being that enhances the quality of life" or "an angel enhances the quality of life" and, of course, "an angel is the opposite of an asshole."

I like the word "angel." Personally, I'm OK with the "divine" implications of the word. I might even use it from time to time.

But the word "angel" comes along with religious connotations that, for many, might obscure the meaning we are trying to convey. Accordingly, it doesn't work as well as the phrase "joyful, loving being." So, almost all of the time, I am going to use the phrase "joyful, loving being" to describe the kind of being that enhances the quality of life.
