Prime Path 48:

Defining Our Terms

Let's start this phase of our inquiry by defining our terms.

What do we mean by "way of being?"

Simply put, by "way of being", we mean your character traits, attributes, and tendencies. When we talk about your "way of being", we mean "the kind of person that you are."

Bottom line: this phase of our inquiry is about coaching you in intentionally adopting character traits, attributes and tendencies that work for you, such that you live a life of the highest quality. Or, in other words, this inquiry is about you learning how to be the kind of person who lives his or her life to the full.

OK, next, let's talk about our use of the word "source". You see, when we talk about the relationship between you and your "way of being", we're going to explore the idea that you "source" your way of being.

There are other words that I could use to express this idea. We could talk about how you create your way of being, or how you generate your way of being, or how you control your way of being, or how you manage your way of being. You can probably think of a few other words that I could use, as well.

The reason that I am going to use the word "source" is because whatever goes on between you and your way of being isn't like anything else that you "do." In fact, it's not something that you "do." It's something that you "are." Using a word like "create" or "manage" to describe how you source your "way of being" points us in the wrong direction. To describe this process as "sourcing" is as impactful a way to describe this process as I can come up with.

There's another useful way to say this, as well. So, sometimes, I will also say that we are going to explore how you are responsible for the way that you are as a being.

Are we good? We're good! Let's move on.
